The Swans were not at the top of everyone`s list of pre-season promotion favourites but have more than proved their worth under new boss Brendan Rodgers and, following only one loss in 10 league games, have the opportunity to go second in the table by beating Portsmouth on Friday night.
"We should go into every game we play in this league expecting to win," the Dutch star told thisissouthwales.co.uk.
"Teams have to look at us, not the other way around.
"We have to be confident. We have to go out to play like we are the best team and then we have to prove it.
"The only problem we will have is if we do not play our own game."
