Jackett's quest to field a fully-fit first team in pre-season will have to wait a little while longer after Kevin Austin sustained a minor injury at the weekend. Austin limped off of the field at half-time against Worcester and failed to return for a "warm down" with teammates during the second half. Physio Richard Evans briefly remained in the changing room with Austin for treatment, who was widely expected to play the second half in a central defensive partnership with O'Leary.
Austin has sustained a minor knock to his ankle that, although not serious, will most probably rule him out of Tuesday night's friendly with Barry Town. Widely expected to be in Jackett's first choice eleven, the ex-Bristol Rovers defender joins Iriekpen and Hylton on the injury list, with Lee Trundle set to return to training this week.
Physio Richard Evans had previously stated that Trundle would most proably be fit for the Barry fixture, after last season's top scorer missed Saturday's friendly with a knee injury. Jackett will surely be hoping that this next fixture passes without any more injury problems, as he attempts to build a side capable of promotion.
