Swansea striker Craig Beattie is desperate to prove himself at the Liberty Stadium this season. The club record signing from West Brom struggled to find his feet in his first season with the Swans, with injuries hampering his progress. But the former Celtic striker is hoping for an upturn in fortunes under new boss Brendan Rodgers, who was confirmed as Paulo Sousa's successor last week. "I was disappointing last year - it took me a while to get going," Beattie told the Evening Post. "Paulo (Sousa) eventually put me in and I started doing really well, but then in November I had a grade two strain in my knee and a back spasm, which took me a while to get over." He added: "I got a few important goals away from home, but now I just want to get out there and show the fans at the Liberty why I was signed. I hope they will see the best of me. I don't want to say last season went badly, but I suppose what I'm trying to say it that it won't go any worse."
