Lee Trundle finally relieved Bob Latchford of his long-standing record of being the last Swansea player to net twenty league goals in a season - but admitted that the team's success is far more important to him. Latchford passed the twenty mark in the 1982/83 season, whilst some 22 years later, Lee Trundle's equaliser at Northampton on Saturday allowed him to achieve the same honour.
"It's hard to believe no Swansea player had scored 20 league goals in a season for such a length of time", Trundle told the Western Mail,"but the special thing about achieving it here is I think this was one of the most important goals I've scored this season". "Having spent so much time in the top three this season, that's where we're determined to finish".
Trundle's goal at Northampton also equalled his highest tally of 21 goals in a season - which was set during last season's campaign. Focus now switches to Easter Friday's visit of promotion rivals Macclesfield Town, where Trundle will be hoping to both break his personal scoring record and give Swansea a crucial morale-boosting victory.
