Ferrie Bodde's on-off transfer to Derby County may be back on again, according to the player himself. In an interview posted on the Sky Sports website this afternoon, Bodde said: I'm still in Holland, I have some personal things to sort out and my head is not right to be with the team. The talk of a transfer to Derby has been dragging on for too long now.
"I had a personal meeting with the manager (Martinez). He is a good man and has helped me since I have played in the UK and he understands the reasons I want to leave and he told me that there can be a deal with Derby.
"Everyone at Swansea has been great with me and they are a great club.
"I will always love them and I will never forget what they have done for me, but Derby is a big club with big players and big finances and a history of playing in the Premier League.
"Everybody knows that's what I want. Now I just hope a deal can be done this week."
The Swans are still waiting for Bodde to join up with the rest of squad in Sweden, but it seems that the player has no intention of going. The time has now come for Robert Martinez and Huw Jenkins to put an end to this saga. Bodde obviously wants to leave and I believe the situation is unsettling for the other players as well as Swans fans.
The Swans will play their first pre-season friendly tonight against Ostersund at the Jamtkraft Arena in Sweden, kick-off 6pm (BST). The Swans will be without Jason Scotland and Angel Rangel, both of whom are recovering from recent operations. It seems the name of Ferrie Bodde will also be missing from the team-sheet, and perhaps Swans fans will have seen him in a Swans shirt for the last time.
