Ex-West Ham defender Shaun Byrne will return to train with Swansea on August 2nd after a brief appearance in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Hereford. Byrne was unable to travel to Holland due to the tour arrangements being finalised weeks ago and has been forced to remain in this country and await Swansea's return.
Byrne was set to start against Hereford, but after being delayed in motorway traffic, was only able to play the second half. It appears that Jackett is set to strengthen his squad with a full-back of some sort, due to recent interest in Duane Courtney and Sheldon Lawrence. Jackett confirmed that Byrne will be returning to South Wales and stated that he was a "tough little full-back" who could well be a useful addition to the squad.
Meanwhile Sheldon Lawrence will not return to Swansea after Kenny Jackett told the Caribbean defender to keep on looking for a professional contract.
