Martinez told the BBC: "We know it's going to be a very hard task but we are looking to improve and progress on a daily basis."

"There is probably a 40% chance that the game could be called off but we need to do the normal preparation and we'll take whatever comes," he said.

"Everyone says the Christmas period is an important period and it is because of the amount of games but I don't think it's a decisive thing unless you're talking about the cup competitions.

"In the league it's about the number of points we can accumulate but what is my concern is the consistency of the performances.

"I think we've got a level of performance and what we need to make sure is that we are consistent enough to carry on performing the way we have done.

"If we do that, the results will follow."

"They are strong, defensively they are very hard to break down, they don't concede too many and then they've got two strikers who are really enjoying their football," he said.

"It's a great find in (top-scorer) Joe Garner and they are trying to utilise him as much as they can.

"I think (manager) John Ward is a very experienced man and is going to make Carlisle a very strong side.

Carlisle United are unbeaten in 8 matches and at home, they have won against Leeds United and Leyton Orient in quick succession.
