Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins was today expecting hoping to hold talks with Rushden midfielder Andy Burgess with a view to a possible £90k move. Burgess had been set to arrive in Swansea for negotiations over the weekend, yet the South Wales club are still hoping to push his transfer through as soon as possible and begin focusing on other targets.
Jenkins, who has been very outspoken throughout the summer on a number of transfer issues, had previously claimed that he hoped the midfielder would sign "within 24 hours" on Thursday. However, it was soon revealed that the two clubs only agreed a fee of around £90k on Friday morning, leaving Jenkins hoping to complete the deal by today "at the latest".
Nevertheless, it appears that a deal for the club's long running primary target is nearing it's conclusion after six months of speculation.
