Disgraced ex-Swansea striker Julian Alsop has joined Northampton Town on a short-term contract and moves straight into their squad for tomorrow's League Two fixture. Alsop was sacked from Oxford Utd for gross misconduct following an incident with a youth team player last week, but has been immediately snapped up by Calderwood's Northampton Town.
The incident that lead to Alsop's sacking took place at the Oxford training ground, where a youth team player claimed that he was sexually assaulted by the ex-Swan. Alsop allegedly stripped the youngster naked after a playfight had gone too far, and attempted to shove a banana up his backside - an action that left the young player in tears.
Oxford were informed of the incident and acted immediately, with Alsop sacked for gross misconduct. However, it appears that the giant striker will continue to play his football in League Two and will be attempting to make a fresh start with the Cobblers.
