Assistant Manager Kevin Nugent has stated his pleasure at watching striker Paul Connor end his early season goal-drought with a brace against Kidderminster Harriers. Although Connor's return to form will force game-hungry Nugent to remain on the bench, the assistant has claimed that his fellow striker "thoroughly deserves to hold on to his place in the team".
Connor finally got off the mark with two goals in either half against Kidderminster on Saturday, which meant that third choice Nugent was forced to watch on from the sidelines. "I'm pleased that Paul is keeping me on the bench at the moment", stated Nugent, "...hopefully he can go on a bit of a roll now".
However, it appears that Nugent still has a large part to play for the Swans this season and suprised many by scoring their first league goal of the season away at Rochdale. Nevertheless, with goals at a premium at the moment for Swansea, assistant manager Nugent doesn't mind who gets them...as long as they count!
