Young midfielder Antonio Corbisiero has claimed that he has been told by Swansea manager Kenny Jackett that he is to be released in the summer. After promising so much, Corbisiero has failed to break into the first team and has been told that he has no future at the club.
Corbisiero made his debut for Swansea under the management of Brian Flynn in August last year, coming on as a substitute in his side's 4-1 demolition of Mansfield. However, since then, Corbisiero has been limited to just one start and three others as a substitute - the last being under Kenny Jackett in Swansea's 2-0 home defeat to Northampton at the end of last season. If the quotes given in a South Gwent newspaper are to be believed, it appears that this may have been his last league appearance for Swansea, although the youngster did play some part in the club's FAW Premier Cup victory over Caersws earlier in the season.
Corbisiero had promised much as a youngster, yet has failed to live up to such potential in the eyes of the current management. Perhaps his fragile frame may have hinted to Jackett that he is too lightweight for the professional game, although he is currently earning rave reviews in the Conference South on loan to Newport County.
