Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins has played down reports linking Paul Connor with a move to Darlington, claiming that it is pure speculation. Darlo Manager David Hodgson has confirmed his desire to bring Durham-born Connor back to the North-East, as he looks to bolster his squad with "local-lads", yet Jenkins claims that they have heard nothing.
"It's nice if other clubs are interested in our players because it means we must be doing something right", Jenkins told the Evening Post, "...but, as I said last week after the rumours concerning Lee Trundle, we don't want anybody leaving. With the new transfer window rules coming in we're looking to add to our squad before the start of the season, not make it smaller. This is the first I've heard of Darlington being interested in Paul Connor. We haven't had an offer for or a phonecall about any of our players from other clubs".
Meanwhile, Swansea continue to be linked with Coventry striker Andy Morrell, who has allegedly turned down a new contract with the Championship club in order to be restored back to his original striking position. Morrell left Wrexham two seasons ago after finishing as the top striker in League Two, where he scored 50 goals as a partnership with current Swansea striker Lee Trundle.
