Cardiff-born boyhood Bluebirds fan Craig Bellamy curled home a stunning 85th-minute winner to settle a thrilling encounter in the visitors` favour and dent the Swans` own promotion ambitions.
But Brendan Rodgers` side have followed up 10 of their previous 11 defeats this season with victory, and Dutchman De Vries insists that is exactly what they need to do at Middlesbrough on Saturday.
"It`s a big blow," he told Swans Player. "It took a great, great strike from Bellamy. When it happens just a couple of minutes before the end, then it`s really hard to get back into it, especially in a derby game because they will back-up again.
"It`s hard to break them down then, especially when, in the whole 90 minutes, we didn`t create enough chances, simple as that, not good enough chances.
"It`s a big blow but we have to look forward to Middlesbrough now and pick ourselves up again. We have showed this season that we can bounce back after a disappointing result or a bad performance and Middlesbrough is our next obstacle."
