Defensive Problems For Jackett

Last updated : 07 October 2004 By Richard Evans
Kenny Jackett has a minor selection headache in his defence, with several defenders ruled out due to injury. Garry Monk joins the already injured Leon Hylton and Izzy Iriekpen, with Andy Gurney rated as doubtful. This means Alan Tate will be a definite starter alongside regulars Kevin Austin and Sam Ricketts...and Jackett may have to reshuffle his pack even more to produce a back-line.

Garry Monk has been forced out due to football league rules, after being knocked out in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Chester - the rules stating that the defender must undergo a two week rest period before returning to action. Izzy Iriekpen and Leon Hylton remain unavailable due to longer term problems, while Andy
Gurney - could also be missing
Gurney could miss the game with the same back injury that forced him out of action at Chester last weekend.

Should Gurney fail to return in time, it is likely that either Stuart Jones could be recalled, or midfielder Kris O'Leary will be moved back into one of the central defensive positions. O'Leary's place in midfield will then either be filled by Leon Britton, Andy Robinson or the forgotten Gary Fisken.

The club are warning supporters to arrive at the ground early, as they believe that this game will sell out.
