The FAW have stated that they are "disappointed" with the number of tickets sold so far for Wales' friendly match against Slovenia tonight, that is set to take place at Swansea's New Stadium. The Welsh governing body had hoped for a capacity crowd to mark the return of international football to the area but now face the prospect of playing the fixture in front of a half-empty stadium.
A number of reasons have been cited for the poor sales but the main reason appears to be the inefficient ticketing scheme currently in place at the White Rock. Thousands of ticketing orders were completed incorrectly, highlighting the farcical situation that continues to occur behind the scenes in the ticket office. "I can see Wednesday night being mayhem", one supporter told a reporter after he received 16 tickets instead of the 8 that he had ordered.
The fact that Wales' opposition are hardly a glamorous nation in footballing terms can also not have helped, whilst a number of high profile drop-outs from the squad could also be listed as a factor.
