This setback for Feeney could mean that the deal to sign him from Cardiff City could be cancelled. Roberto Martinez today, though, assured that this would not scupper any potential deal.
The loan deal is up in less than 2 weeks, January the 1st which is the opening day of the Transfer Window.
Martinez told the South Wales Evening Post:
"The situation does not change at all with Warren."
"Warren's injury, when I saw it, I thought would be a bad one. We have found no bone fracture, which is good, but he could still be out for anything between seven to 13 weeks."
"Nothing has changed in my mind. The plan was to do a deal with Cardiff but the big issue is his situation at Cardiff."
"The attitude and way that he has conducted himself since the day he signed here means that he deserves another opportunity with us. That opportunity can't be destroyed by this injury."
"Our strikers' department is very thin, but I think we can cope very well with the challenge in front of us."
"Other possible targets is something our scouting system is working on, but we already have quality players in Darryl Duffy and Guillem Bauza available to us."
"My focus is now on getting Jason Scotland back to full fitness. His injury was what we expected. We knew it was not something serious but it is frustrating that he will miss the Carlisle match."
"It is a difficult area to treat directly, but we hope he recovers very soon."
