Swansea's Craig Beattie's work off the pitch has been crucial to his upturn in form, says manager Brendan Rodgers."The way he's been playing and the goals he's scoring are a result of his football fitness, it's great to see," said Rodgers after the 1-3 Ipswich win.
Striker Beattie's brace were key to third-placed Swansea's recovery from a 1-0 deficit at Portman Road.
The Scot has now struck three times in two games, having not previously scored since March 2009.
"With Craig it's just playing games and staying fit," Rodgers told BBC Sport Wales.
"If he can keep doing as he's doing in relation to training he'll take that into games."
Beattie was a record signing for the Swans when he joined from West Brom for an initial £500,000 in August 2009, but he has struggled to establish himself in the side, a series of injuries hindering his chances.
Rodgers was about to substitute the front man with his side 1-0 down at Ipswich, before Beattie headed the equaliser from a free kick.
"Up until that point we hadn't threatened as much as we'd have liked so I was looking to change," said Rodgers, whose side have now gone six away games without defeat.
"Then we got the free kick and it was the service that Craig hadn't had. The goal gave him the confidence for the rest of the game."
Beattie added: "I was about to come off [when I scored].
"The crosses weren't coming in that I could have benefited from, so the manager was going to change it and bring Stephen Dobbie on for some more intricate stuff.
"With the attacking free kick he left me on for my presence and I managed to score, so that's changed his mind."
Rodgers is confident that his high-flying side can maintain their promotion challenge.
We're working hard, enjoying life and striving to achieve something we're quietly confident.
Craig Beattie
"I've got a great belief in the group and the players and we've shown we can be competitive," he said.
"If we're still there in February or March, because of the way we play we'll have a very good chance.
"There are clubs at this level with big, big investments to come in January - the likes of Leicester City and Nottingham Forest.
"But I've got great faith in this group. It's a case of trying to lead them and push them, and so far they've responded magnificently.
"We'll keep pressure on the top two and chase what's in front of us rather than looking behind."
Beattie added: "I hope we can keep the pressure on the top two.
"Compared to some clubs in the division we're a small club, but we're just enjoying life in the league.
