Five Wins In Six Pushes Swans Up To Third

Swansea's 1-0 victory over Rushden and Diamonds has moved them up into the automatic promotion places for the first time this season. After an indifferent start to the season, Kenny Jackett has lead Swansea on a fantastic recent run of form that has seen them win five of their last six games and concede just one goal in the process...a penalty at Yeovil.

In fact, Swansea currently hold the best defensive record in all three Coca-Cola leagues, having conceded just five goals during the current campaign. Kenny Jackett's new look defence has been recently bolstered by the acquisition of ex-Swindon Town captain Andy Gurney, who has slotted nicely into a solid back-line and the Swans are now proving extremely difficult to beat.

Commencing the weekend in fifth position, Saturday's win moves Swansea up to third after Scunthorpe, Mansfield and Wycombe all drew. Yeovil now occupy the top-spot, with Scunthorpe two goals ahead of Swansea in third.

The task now lies with Chester to score the first goal from open play against Swansea in just over 10 hours of league football. The last to do so was Grant McCann of Cheltenham, who scored with a 40-yard drive in a 1-1 draw at the Vetch in August. Indeed, the only goal to be scored against the Swans during this period was a Yeovil penalty and Jackett will surely be delighted at the much improved defence.
