The striker, 34, made 12 appearances for the Rams, scoring two goals, but he was back training in south Wales on Tuesday morning and with first-team minutes under his belt is looking to prove his worth to Brendan Rodgers.
"I am pleased to be back," he told City`s official website.
"I had a good spell at Derby, it was nice to play some games at a nice club. They do everything properly and you can see from their training facilities that they should really be in the Premier League.
"But if I can get a chance to play for Swansea again, that would be great. Hopefully I will always be ready so that if the team needs me I will be able to help as much as I can."
