Manchester Police have confirmed that Swansea goalkeeper Willy Gueret has been arrested following celebrations at the end of his side's victory at Gigg Lane. Gueret was lead away after celebrating Swansea's promotion to League One and remains in custody for the moment.
The club have confirmed that Gueret was arrested for standing on the glass roof of the Bury dug-out as numerous other Swansea players celebrated alongside him with bottles of champagne. However, his team-mates were astonished to see Gueret being led away in handcuffs, before chaotic scenes of crowd trouble began.
Gueret's arrest marks a bizarre end to the season for the French keeper, who has been immaculate all year and helped push his side to an automatic promotion spot. No doubt there will be more detailed news on this story over the next few days, with Swansea likely to lodge a complaint with the Police force.
