Swansea have announced that Bristol City have turned down an enquiry for their left winger Marc Goodfellow, after Kenny Jackett attempted to strengthen his squad for a League Two promotion assault. Jackett has long stated that his side lacks a naturally left-footed winger and has spent the last week drawing up a shortlist of potential targets. Goodfellow is apparently only the latest in a number of enquiries and approaches that have so far drawn a blank for the Swansea manager. However, Jackett is adamant that he wants to add to his side sooner rather than later and will continue to search for the elusive left winger his side so-badly needs.
Marc Goodfellow was signed by Danny Wilson for £50k from Stoke in January, but appears to have fallen out of favour with new manager Brian Tinnion. After spending a month on loan at Port Vale, the winger returned to Bristol on Saturday, only to find that he was left out of the travelling party altogether. However, Swansea have been told that the winger is not for sale and they must now focus their attention elsewhere.
Speaking to the Evening Post, Jackett commented ''I have been working hard in the last seven days trying to come up with some names and I've enquired about a number of players, but so far, despite all the calls I have made, nothing has come off". Not happy with the width of the side after the recent absence of Andy Robinson, it appears that Swansea fans can expect fresh developments in this area over the next week or so.
