Gower, whose contract was due to expire at the end of the current campaign, has signed a new deal to take him up until the end of next season.
"I couldn't be happier," admitted Gower, 32. "If I'm honest, during pre-season I thought my future at the club looked bleak.
"We didn't have a manager and the wide positions were looking strong. I was worried about not getting in the team and I am not they type who would be happy sitting on the bench. Things looked uncertain.
"But the new gaffer came in, switched me to a new position in the holding role and I'd like to think that my performances have earned me the new contract."
