It appears that Swansea's interest in Rochdale striker Grant Holt may have been ended, with the Spotland club unlikely to budge on a £300k price-tag. Rochdale's valuation, which seems somewhat unreasonable for a basement club, is over double the apparent £130k that Swansea offered at the end of last week and should force Jackett to look elsewhere.
Swansea originally offered £75k for Holt in February - an offer that was immediately rejected by Dale, yet Jackett was still keen on sealing a move for the ex-Sheffield Wednesday striker. However, it is unlikely to see Swansea raise their current increased offer past the £150k mark and like rivals Yeovil, who also had a bit rejected last week, Jackett will surely focus on more affordable targets.
"To be honest we have turned down bigger offers for Grant Holt in the past", Rochdale director Jim Fagan told the Western Mail, "...and we are looking to extend his contract with us further than the one year he has left. Unless someone comes in with an offer that we can't refuse, then he'll be playing for Rochdale next season and hopefully beyond".
