Rochdale striker Grant Holt has officially ended speculation regarding his future by signing a new contract at the Spotland club. Holt had been one of Swansea's primary transfer targets since February, yet after lodging numerous increased bids, Rochdale refused to let their biggest asset leave the club. Holt's decision now effectively ends four months of speculation and means that Kenny Jackett will definitely have to define a new attacking target.
"I'm very pleased to have signed a new deal", Holt told the Rochdale official website, "...its nice to be settled and know what is going on next year. I've seen the reports regarding moving clubs...but its fair play to Rochdale. They didn't want to sell me and I'm happy to sign and stay here for the next two years".
News of Holt's contract extension will come as a blow to Kenny Jackett who made it no secret that the Rochdale striker was his number one attacking transfer target. However, Jackett will console himself with developments on the Andy Burgess front and will now be forced to look elsewhere for a player to compliment his strike-force.
