Kenny Jackett was dealt both good and bad news yesterday as he prepares his squad for the second round of the FA Cup this weekend. The long awaited return of Izzy Iriekpen finally looks set to occur at Stockport on Saturday, with the defender appearing ready for first team action. The news comes at an important time for Jackett, who is looking to successfully eliminate the defensive errors that cost his side dear in last weekends' defeat against Bury.
However, Jackett was also given the news that Leon Britton sustained an ankle injury in last weekend's defeat and has been ruled out for around three weeks. Britton has found himself consigned to the bench in recent weeks, with only a handful of cameo appearances to his name since early September. Nevertheless, Jackett continues to state that Britton is in his long term plans and has merely suffered as a result of the side's good form in his absence.
As of yet, there is still no news on the recoveries of Brad Maylett and Leon Hylton, who both under-went hernia operations last month. However, James Thomas continues his injury-crocked season, with first team action still apparently a long way off.
