Kenny Jackett is still hoping to bolster his newly promoted Swansea side ahead of next month's League One kick-off, although there is a high possibility that there may be no additions before August 6th. Chairman Huw Jenkins has claimed that several of the club's targets have increased their wage demands due to the new White Rock stadium, forcing Swansea to look elsewhere.
"Kenny and I feel there's no need to panic", Jenkins told the Evening Post, "...we're not going to dive in to the market. Some players see the greater income our new stadium is generating as a chance for them to receive higher salaries. Yes we all have bills to pay and lives to lead, but we want players to be coming here because they want to play for us. Football should be first and wages should be second".
Jenkins also claimed that Jackett has had several players watched in recent friendlies and is constantly liaising with different agents over potential deals. "We're speaking to a number of agents all the time...now it's a case of waiting until we're ready to go and sign someone".
