Swansea have been linked with a swoop for Shrewsbury's Jamie Tolley after chairman Huw Jenkins claimed that the midfielder is just one of a number of players that had been "offered" to them. Jenkins told local media "Tolley is one of a clutch of players under 24 that Swansea have been offered recently", a statement that has angered Shrewsbury manager Gary Peters.
Peters claims that he does not want Tolley to leave Gay Meadow this summer and has been left confused by Jenkins' comments. "It doesn't worry me because he is still under contract here and if they really are interested then they will have to deal with me eventually", Peters told the Shropshire Star.
Shrewsbury turned down a £10k bid for the midfielder from Chester last season and Peters believe that agents could have been touting one of the club's biggest assets around the lower leagues. Tolley would most certainly command a fee, believed to be around the £60k mark and with so many players available through free transfers, any move looks extremely doubtful.
