Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins has stated that the South Wales club will continue their attempts to sign West Ham midfielder Gavin Williams, despite the less-than-impressed reaction from fans. Williams became one of the most hated figures at the Vetch Field when he goaded over 9,000 fans with his "Ayatollah" celebrations on Boxing Day 2003 and many are disappointed at the club's intentions to bring him to the new stadium.
However, Jenkins dismissed the provocation that happened almost 19 months ago and told the Evening Post, "That would have no bearing on anything and we are always on the look-out for good players who might become available. I still think we need another one or two players and Williams is a midfielder who can score goals".
