Finland international striker Shefki Kuqi has had his Swansea City contract terminated by mutual consent. The 34-year-old has only made two substitutes appearances in the league for the Championship high-fliers since Brendan Rodgers arrived in the summer.
Kuqi had returned from a three-month loan spell to Championship rivals Derby County in December where he scored twice in 12 Championship appearances.
Kuqi was signed on a free transfer in January 2011 by ex-boss Paulo Sousa.
The former Crystal Palace and Blackburn Rovers forward had six months remaining on his 18-month deal but the contract has been terminated by mutual consent.
"I have the greatest respect for Shekfi as a player and a person," said Swans manager Rodgers.
"Unfortunately it hasn't worked out for him him this season because he hasn't played as much as he would have liked."
