The Swans have been linked with a move for the Argentinian after his contract with the Latics expired. But Laudrup insists Di Santo does not have the qualities he is looking for, and also dismissed talk of a move for Espanyol's Ghana midfielder Wakaso Mubarak.
He told BBC Sport: "I think Di Santo is a good player, but I don't think he has the characteristics we are looking for. I am looking for a different kind of player.
"But every day I read we are going for this player or that player, a Dutch player and then Ghanaian player.
"If I signed half of the players we have been linked to I would have 35 players here.
"I have also spent a certain amount of money, so it won't be a big signing but for me it doesn't matter.
"If it's a big player on loan from a big club... it's about the quality."
Laudrup had made strengthening his forward options a priority in order to ease the burden on last season's top scorer Michu.
To that end, Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Bony has been acquired from Vitesse Arnhem for a club-record £12million fee.
Jonjo Shelvey, Alejandro Pozuelo, Jordi Amat, Jose Canas, Jernade Meade, Jonathan de Guzman, Gregor Zabret and Alex Gogic have also arrived at the Liberty Stadium this summer.
