Leon Britton played a major part in Swansea's battle against relegation from League Two in 2003 and became a cult hero amongst the Vetch supporters in the process. The skillful midfielder then helped propel his side to the top of the division and the fifth round of the FA Cup under Brian Flynn last year, with numerous higher division clubs rumoured to be interested in the pint-size player. However, Britton has been resigned to the bench for much of this season and has admitted that he is extremely worried about his Swansea future under Kenny Jackett.
Speaking to the Western Mail, Britton stated "I've only got six months left on my contract at Swansea and, the way things are going for me at the moment, it's not looking too good". Despite having midfielders suspended on Saturday, Britton was still not in the first team and claimed "If I'm not going to play when three midfielders are out, when am I going to get a game?".
So it appears that if Britton's situation doesn't improve, then the midfielder will be forced to look elsewhere in the near future. "If I'm not playing games at Swansea, then maybe I can go out on loan somewhere - then I can play and prove to another club that I'm worth a contract. If I have to sort out my future then I want to do it well before May". "Even if Swansea did offer me a new contract, I would find it hard to accept it because of the way things are going for me". Worrying news for the pro-Brittons but it appears that the little Vetch genius could be on his way out of South Wales before too long.
