City are renowned for their free-flowing passing game but Rodgers felt it was the opposite side of their responsibilities which went missing on Tuesday to cost them two valuable points as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Watford.
"I think it (tight games) is the way it`s going to be with 10 matches to go, and we have to enjoy it," he said.
"But we`ve got to enjoy doing the ugly bits and for once, which has happened very, very few times this season, we didn`t do the ugly bits right which is getting up to people and getting tight to people and we got punished for it."
Asked why that was, Rodgers replied: "Concentration. Maybe you think the game is won, because we had so much control and dominance of the game and restricted them to very few possibilities then you can go to sleep and we went to sleep."
He added: "It`s going to be a really exciting last 10 games, for sure."
