All three players who left the Vetch at the end of last month on loan made their debuts for their new clubs over the weekend - and in particularly impressive style. Gary Fisken, Antonio Corbisiero and Mark Pritchard all started non-league matches over the weekend after finding it virtually impossible to break into the Swansea starting line-up.
Whilst Swansea were busy destroying his new side's local rivals, Gary Fisken was on target in his first start for Cambridge City as they beat Weymouth 4-1 in the Nationwide Conference South. Fisken also set up two goals in front of a crowd of just over 500 fans and walked the man-of-the-match award according to his manager. In fact, City manager Gary Roberts claimed that Fisken was "a different class" as the Conference South side virtually confirmed at least a playoff place with this important win.
At the other end of the Conference South, Antonio Corbisiero started for Newport County in their 1-1 draw against Havant & Waterlooville, which just keeps them outside of the relegation places. Corbisiero was a popular choice at Newport in his previous 4-match loan spell in December and once again impressed in the County midfield with a decent overall performance in front of just over 600 fans.
Highly-rated youngster Mark Pritchard was also in action at the weekend, as he began his first match for Southern Premier side Merthyr Tydfil. Tydfil drew 0-0 with Banbury United but should have taken all three points after a string of misses from their strikers - including the lively Pritchard. Merthyr's draw still leaves them outside the playoffs with time running out.
Also in action once more, was the impressive Brad Maylett who has been earning rave reviews in his loan spell so far with fellow League Two rivals Boston United. The local support have taken to him immediately and were singing his praises once again on Saturday, after he set-up Jason Lee for Boston's first goal in their 2-1 win over Cheltenham. It certainly appears that Boston will be attempting to make Maylett's switch permanent, although Swansea would be likely to demand a fee for a player who still has a year left on his current contract.
