The former Real Madrid and Sevilla midfielder, signed on a free from QPR last summer by then boss Paulo Sousa, has managed just one league start so far this term.
Lopez`s two-year contract expires at the end of the season, but the Spaniard hopes he will be leaving South Wales next month.
"I am only 29 and I can't be just going along every week in training and not making the squad," he told the South Wales Evening Post. "I have around three years at my best to play and I'm losing time here. When you're not playing it is difficult to be happy.
"I think it's going to be very difficult for me to get an opportunity now because the season has moved on a lot.
"I would like to move in January because I want to play - and I can't see that happening here. I'm speaking to my agent already. I've also spoken to the chairman about my situation and I expect to move on."
