Swansea's club captain Roberto Martinez has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2006. Martinez has played an important role for the club over the past three seasons and was "delighted" to add a further 12 months to his current contract.
"Obviously, I'm delighted that I've got another year on my contract because this is the club I love", Martinez told the Evening Post. "It's fantastic for me that I'll be part of the club when the new stadium comes...and the weather? It's not a problem. I'm very pleased to be staying in Wales".
Martinez will now be looking to concentrate on his football and regain his personal form that helped secure Swansea's league status in 2003. "We have talked all along about bringing Swansea City back to where it belongs. I think we're on the way to doing that".
