Match Preview - Swans v ADO Den Haag

Last updated : 05 August 2008 By Tycoch Jack

The Swans play their final pre-season friendly tonight against ADO Den Haag at the Liberty, kick-off 7.45pm.

Both Ferrie Bodde and Dorus de Vries are former ADO Den Haag players, and both should line up against their old team tonight. Despite the torrential rain in Swansea today, the game still goes ahead.

ADO Den Haag won the Eredivisie(Dutch First Division) title in 1942 and 1943 and the KNVB Cup(Dutch cup) in 1968 and 1975 (under the name FC Den Haag). Their greatest European success was a quarter final game against West Ham United for the European Cup Winners Cup in 1976. A 4-2 win in The Hague followed by a 3-1 defeat in London meant elimination. They won promotion at the end of last season and will play in the Eredivisie next season. The club's new home is the 15,000 seater Den Haag Stadion and their home colors are yellow and green. ADO fans have a strong affinity with the Swans and around 200 of them are expected at the Liberty tonight.

Swans will be without Ashley Williams, Dennis Lawrence and Kristian O'leary who are all suffering with a virus. Angel Rangel and Gorka Pintado also miss out because of injury, though Leon Britton and Fede Bessone should return to the squad after missing out last Saturday against West Brom.

Huw Jenkins will be presented with a commemorative flag by the Football League before the game tonight, as a result of the Swans winning the First Division title last season.
