The Swans face their first football league opposition in pre-season tonight as Roberto Martinez's side takes on his former team Chester City at the Deva Stadium, kick-off 7.45pm.
After returning from a fairly successful four-match tour of Spain, Martinez can't wait for the championship season to start. Speaking to the Evening Post, Martinez said:
"The next three games are about getting the players in the best possible condition to win football matches when the Championship season starts," he said.
"You can see we have two or three players per position depending on how we are going to play.
''The tour was a great success. It was fantastic preparation and the players have learned a huge lesson tactically.
"We have achieved our targets as far as fitness levels go, now it's about preparation for Charlton and starting the campaign as strongly as we can.
"Chester is a friendly club and a lovely set-up. When you have Liverpool, Everton, Manchester United and Manchester City on your doorstep you have to really love the club to be a Chester fan.
"They have that passion throughout the club. It will be really nice to see everyone again.
"It will be a difficult test because it is completely different to what we were doing in Spain. In football we have to be adaptable, as League One showed us last season.
"That will be a key ingredient if we are going to be competitive in the Championship. It doesn't come any harder to adapt than going from playing Barcelona B at the Miniestadi to Chester City at the Deva Stadium."
Martinez should field a strong team tonight and, apart from Rangel and Scotland, who are still injured, the Swans have no other injury worries.
