Centre-back Garry Monk could face an even longer suspension than his current two-game ban, after the Football Association of Wales charged him with assault during last weekend's defeat at Shrewsbury. Monk was involved in an incident that saw referee Eddie Evans tumbling to the ground as the defender received his marching orders during Saturday's match - although both player and official have stated that there was no push involved.
Swansea have decided to appeal against the charge, claiming that there are "unusual circumstances" involved but Monk could face a maximum, if unlikely, suspension of up to six months. Both Swansea and Shrewsbury have also been charged with failing to control their players during the fixture...with both sides expected to appeal against the decision.
