Monk faces no action over comments

Monk branded Potters winger Victor Moses "a cheat" after Stoke were awarded a controversial penalty from which they equalised on their way to a 2-1 win, with Monk calling referee Michael Oliver's decision to award the spot-kick as "disgusting".

Monk was asked to explain himself by the FA but has escaped further punishment.

"Swansea City can confirm that the Football Association will not be taking any further action regarding media comments made by manager Garry Monk following the recent Barclay Premier League fixture at Stoke City," said a statement on the club's website.

"The FA, who asked Monk for his observations following the fixture, has reminded the Swansea manager about his responsibilities regarding media comments."

Monk has voiced his frustration at a number of decisions which he feels have gone against Swansea this season, and has also complained that Mike Riley, general manager of referees' organisation Professional Game Match Officials Limited, did not respond to a list of his grievances.

Swansea were on the wrong end of yet another controversial decision on Tuesday night as Liverpool scored two late goals to knock them out of the Capital One Cup with a 2-1 win at Anfield.

The Swans, who conceded a late equaliser to Mario Balotelli, had Federico Fernandez sent off late on before Dejan Lovren scored five minutes into time added on.

Monk has indicated that the club will appeal the red card.
