Montero played a starring role on Tuesday night as Swansea overcame Everton for the first time in their history at the 21st attempt, setting up the first goal in a 3-0 Liberty Stadium victory and causing huge problems for the Toffees' defence all evening.
The 24-year-old has yet to start a Barclays Premier League match for Swansea since joining from Mexican club Monarcas Moralia in the summer for around £4million, but he has plenty of pedigree when it comes to cup success at his former club.
"I won the cup in Mexico," Montero said of his part in Moralia's first-ever Copa MX win on penalties last November.
"I know this club won the trophy two years ago and I hope to repeat this Capital One Cup win, but also to improve in the Premier League this season.
"I'm very happy because we won and we have progressed to the next round.
"But I also hope to improve in every single match and bring more to the team."
Montero played in all of Ecuador's three matches at the World Cup in Brazil, but has found it difficult to dislodge in-form wingers Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge since joining Swansea.
Yet he has shown what he can do in Swansea's Capital One Cup victories against Rotherham and Everton and has quickly become a fans' favourite, with his name reverberating around the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night.
"I am really happy to hear the crowd sing my name," Montero said.
"It's always good for people to recognise what you are doing, that you are working hard for that.
"I am always ready to give everything no matter how big a role I have in the team."
Everton have now conceded six goals in two games as they head into Saturday's Merseyside derby with Liverpool at Anfield.
Their Capital One Cup exit came on the back of a 3-2 home league defeat to Crystal Palace, but Everton boss Roberto Martinez insisted he was delighted with several individual performances after making seven changes from the team which played on Sunday.
Among them was Costa Rica international Bryan Oviedo, who was making his first appearance since suffering a double leg fracture in an FA Cup tie at Stevenage in January.
"It was very emotional to be in the starting line-up again, I was very excited when I knew I would be," Oviedo told evertontv.
"I have been out a long time and it is difficult, but when I come and see the support it is amazing.
"All throughout my recovery Evertonians have given me their support.
"I want to thank them all for that."
