Zippy was shortlisted for the role after Jenkins received much criticism in the weeks leading up to the transfer deadline, as he continued to run to the media with every transfer lead that the club were following. After a number of tit-for-tat arguments with opposition clubs over the likes of Grant Holt, Gavin Williams and Lee Johnson, Jenkins put his foot well and truly in it when he described the Darren Pratley transfer "a done deal". Less than 24 hours later, Brentford secured the midfielder's signature at the 11th hour after being alerted to his availability by Mr Jenkins.
Zippy was suggested as the perfect solution to the problem, with his large metal zip eliminating any chance of him giving the game away to the press, or getting involved in petty squables with other clubs. Zippy was unsuprisingly unavailable for comment.
