Manager Garry Monk blamed the Spaniard after the game and he has since admitted he has to learn from it.
“It wasn’t the best ball into the box. I saw Michel coming out and I thought he was going to get it, but he didn’t,” said Rangel. “He was already running so I couldn’t block him in time.
“It was just about a split second and I was too late. It was one of those where I couldn’t see Michel and I thought he was going to come out and get it.
“But it was my role to stop the winger from scoring. I reacted too late and I couldn’t even stop him or block him.
“I’m experienced enough to say I should have stopped that goal and I’ll take responsibility. I have to learn, we have to learn for the next five games.”
