Rodgers fuelled for promotion bid

Brendan Rodgers believes slipping out of the automatic promotion places will only fuel Swansea City to rediscover their form. The Swans enjoyed five wins from six in February to get them into second, but have picked up just one point from their last three outings.

Norwich have since leapfrogged them and fellow promotion chasers Nottingham Forest visit Swansea on Saturday.

"Every game now is a big game, there's no question," said Rodgers.

"If we didn't see that before our run of results, we're certainly seeing that now because we've been given a little bit of lady luck in the three games we have slipped up.

"We haven't slipped down [the table] further and we find ourselves only three points behind second place.

"When you look at that, with nine games to go, it's still in our hands, so we'll look at the game on Saturday and will hopefully get the result the players deserve."

Swansea go into Saturday's clash at the Liberty Stadium looking for their first win in four attempts, while Forest have registered just one win in nine.

Forest have not won since beating Cardiff 2-1 in mid-February, losing two and drawing four of the last six, and have lost the services of Wales striker Robert Earnshaw to injury.

But they have plenty of back-up with Dexter Blackstock, Nathan Tyson, Kris Boyd, Marcus Tudgay and Dele Adebola available.

Swansea have boosted their strike-force by the arrival of highly-rated Italy under-21 international Fabio Borini on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old is expected to be in the squad for Saturday's clash.

"We've had a good week this week in relation to recuperation and training and we look really bright and sharp," added Rodgers.

"We know we can't have many more slip ups. We're certainly not down in the dumps and unhappy, it just provides us great fuel to win games and to hopefully keep moving up.

"We enjoyed being in that top two and we want to be back in there come the end of the season."
