The 29-year-old winger has been one of Swansea's best performers this season and his stunning strike against West Brom was nominated for the August goal of the month
"He deserves (the new contract) because in my time here he's probably been our most consistent performer - and he's still performing," said Swansea boss Garry Monk ahead of Saturday's league trip to Sunderland.
"His time before coming here was well documented but he's now found a home, somewhere he can be himself
"H e'll admit himself a little bit he rebelled at times as a youngster but I think he never clicked at clubs where he felt he could express himself
" Perhaps he was unsure of what he was capable of, but here he's had that freedom and guidance to be better."
