Sad news has broken from Swansea City, with the news that forgotten-hero James Thomas looks set to call time on his football career after a series of injuries. Club physio Richard Evans has stated that "It looks like Thomo will leave the club", after being told by a leading physiotherapist that his knee may never recover fully from his latest injury.
Thomas has suffered an agonising two years at the club since his hat-trick saved Swansea from relegation on the last day of the season, being constantly injury-crocked and making only a handful of appearances along the way. The striker had hoped to return to pre-season training and attempt to prove his ability to Kenny Jackett, a goal that now appears little more than a dream.
"It's not good news for him or the club", Evans told the Western Mail. "He may yet recover but it could take as long as a year or a year-and-a-half for his knee to settle down completely and even then it may not be up to playing professionally". He is still positive, though, and wants to give it a go but he might have to step away from the game for a while".
