Swansea have been given a major boost ahead of the weekend's League One kick-off with the news that Welsh International Sam Ricketts has signed a new two year extension to his current deal. The new agreement will keep Ricketts contracted in South Wales until the summer of 2008 and ends speculation linking him to higher division football.
Ricketts told the official website that he was "absolutely delighted" to be extending his deal in South Wales and is now glad to be able to focus on the new season. Arguably the club's most sellable asset, Ricketts experienced a whirlwind 12 months when he moved from non-league football with Telford, to International representation with Wales.
