Second String Swans Prepare For Local Test

A mixed team of senior and reserve team players will make the short journey to Port Talbot tonight for a hastily arranged friendly at Victoria Road. Although none of the first team will feature in tonight's match, Jackett has taken the opportunity to give some of his second string a run-out, whilst also taking a look at a number of youth team players.

The League of Wales outfit are still ten days away from their first competitive fixture and are still well and truly involved in their pre-season campaign. After beginning the summer with two consecutive victories, Port Talbot have recently suffered two disappointing defeats - to Newport County and at Merthyr Tydfil where they lost 4-0 on Saturday. Ex-Swans Matthew Rees and Richard Jones are both likely to figure in the friendly, alongside another old-boy Leigh De-Vulgt.

Irish U-21 International Brian Murphy will start in goal for the Swans, with a back-line likely to include Shaun McDonald, Ijah Anderson and Andy Gurney. Paul Connor and Lee Thorpe could both feature in attack, whilst the likes of Gary Fisken, Mark Pritchard, Andy Robinson and Chad Bond could also play some part over the 90 minutes. It is unclear whether or not Jackett will be willing to risk fringe first-teamers like Owain Tudur-Jones and Kevin McLeod so close to Saturday's important league outing at Huddersfield.
