Roberto Martinez has missed out on the Powerade Player of the Month award for August after making the initial shortlist for the trophy. Swansea's club captain was one of four players nominated for the award but eventually missed out to Bradford's veteran striker Dean Windass.
August has marked an exceptional month for the Spaniard, who appears to be enjoying his football in League One. Martinez was the subject of much criticism last season after some below-par displays, but it would certainly appear that the skipper is more suited to League One, which is certainly more of a footballing division that the basement league.
Rotherham's Deon Burton and Huddersfield's Pawel Abbott were the other players to be nominated for the award, which was announced by panel Chairman Chris Kamara on Sunday morning.
