"The month to month contract was offered in view of the fact that he required an ankle operation which the consultant suggested could mean a lengthy period on the sidelines, and could be a problematic injury," explained manager Nick Cusack to the club's official website.
"That was the basis on which the club offered the contract, but now we are disappointed that he hasn't turned up for the medical treatment that he needs to get fit.
"His agent informed us that he did not want to play for Swansea anymore, and he was not coming back. Under those circumstances I assume that Mama has played his last game for the football club.
"It's disappointing in the sense that the club had looked after him, made sure he had the best medical treatment, saw one of the top specialist's to ensure we could get him fit, but I was not prepared to gamble on him returning fit, and therefore giving him a long contract could mean that he might have had months and months in the treatment room, and the club would have to pick up the financial burden.
"I am a little bit concerned with the way things have been left regarding his fitness, and as a young guy I do not want to see him suffer as a result of that, but it's his choice, he's made the decision, and I would think that is the end of that particular chapter."
