Swans Back In Hunt After Excellent Easter Period

Last updated : 28 March 2005 By Richard Evans
Swansea hit back at their critics with two important victories over the Easter period, picking up maximum points and keeping them well in the hunt for an automatic promotion spot. Victories over the in-form Macclesfield and tricky Cheltenham appear to have finally halted Swansea's slump in form and kept them in the running for a top three finish.

Lee Thorpe has proved to be one of the most influential players for Swansea over the Easter weekend, by netting the opening goals in both victories and playing an integral role throughout. Despite the fact that many supporters are still waiting to be convinced by his role in the side, these two goals will definitely go a long way to helping him settle in to the South Wales club.

Swansea are currently being kept out of the top three on goal difference, but with many of their promotion rivals still yet to play each other, it appears that the race for promotion could still have many twists and turns left in it yet.
